The End of February 2013

Here we are at the end of February and I'm very pleased about that.  I'm ready for spring!
One of my daughters had a birthday this month and I made her a case for her Kindle.  She requested blue so that decision was made for me.

I looked through my fabrics and decided to cut strips 1 1/2" wide and at least an inch wider than the Kindle.  I sewed several different fabrics together, ironed them, measured and cut to size.  Folded in half, this fabric would be the front and back of the bag.  I placed the pieced fabric wrong side up and cut two pieces of batting to size for the front and back.  I added a strip of fabric to each side lengthwise.  Then I placed the fabric piece right sides together with a lining fabric I had chosen, blue of course!  I turnd the piece right side out and put valcro on the underside of the flap.  I added a hand crafted button Ronnie had made and there you go!  It's done!!  I'll probably make more of these, it's a good way to use up fabric scraps and I have plenty of those.  I'm sorry I didn't take photos of the process, maybe next time and I'll post them.

Peace,
Diane

My Photos Displayed

I love photography and sell my photos 4x6" in high quality blank note cards and other typical sizes of photos.  I recently had a customer contact me and he said he had talked to me about a year ago about ordering some custom photos.  He didn't order any.  I was amazed to hear back from him after a year!

They recently bought a new home and he ordered three photographs 16 x16".  Because that is square I had to crop them.  He gave me artistic license to do that.

Yesterday he sent me a nice note and two pictures of the three photos framed and displayed in their home.  I'm very pleased, they look like they could be from a magazine. : )

It's nice to hear back from satisfied customers and it encourages me to continue with something I really like to do.  It's always nice to receive a compliment.

Enjoy your day!
Peace,
Diane

Finishing Up Ignored Fiber Art Quilts

Well, I didn't really ignore them, sometimes I just get too many projects going all at once.  This art quilt was started some time ago but it was put away with some other small pieces.  Now that my sewing room is all set, I'm loving jumping back in to finish some of these!

The blue fabric is some I snow dyed last winter.  The tan at the bottom is some "rusted" fabric and the photograph is a transfer on to another type of fiber.  I used vintage lace and now I've decided to add a small piece of vintage crochet to the bottom left of the piece.  The envelope fabric is commercial fabric I really like.  Oh yes, the pins on the binding are gone, it's finished. : )

Peace,
Diane
