When I turn my calendar to February, I start putting out some of my heart decorations around the house. Red is one of my favorite colors and I love hearts! I have a board on Pinterest with just Hearts featured. It's a new way of collecting and it doesn't fill my house with all those things I don't really have space for.
We've had a couple of good snow storms in the past couple of weeks! So it's TIME FOR SNOW DYEING again!!
This picture was taken last year when I dyed in a plastic bin. Now I have a utility sink with a cover with drain holes for the sink and I attach that, add my fabric, put snow on top, then add some mixed dye. Some people use the dye powder without mixing, but the particles fly all over the place so I like to mix mine first.
There are great instructions for Snow Dyeing on web shops that sell dye and paint. Check them out if you are interested in giving this a try. You can also give ICE DYEING a try, it also gives beautiful results. The "Bloom, Bake and Create" Blog has some good examples and Lynda has a tutorial you can purchase. Peace,

A utility sink? Wow! That's awesome. Thanks for the mention about my ice dyeing webinar. I also have tutorials on my blog for both snow and ice dyeing. I have three tutorials posts on snow dyeing starting with this one: http://www.bloombakecreate.com/2011/01/snow-dying-getting-started/ Looking forward to seeing your results.
ReplyDeleteDiane, Thanks for the plug on my ice dyeing webinar. I love your sink cover - neat. And your pieces are beautiful. Makes me feel bad that I didn't get out and snow dye. If it's still around tomorrow I may try a little bit.
