Yes, it's finally May, but here in NH we've had so much rain it still feels like April. Ball games have had to be canceled and gardening put off until it warms up.
I had a wonderful Mother's Day. My children and grandchildren joined me at my home and we did some yard work. I've weeded out some terrible grass in my herb garden with the help of my daughters. I'm in the process of adding new herb plants but I'm waiting for it to get a bit warmer to add more. Possibility of frost tonight!
Today my sister Dot and I went to the coast to visit our oldest brother, Dick, who is recovering from a stroke he had a week ago Wed. He is still hospitalized and it may be another week before he can go to rehab. He has good movement and he can talk thankfully! He seems to have some trouble finding words, especially right after he naps. But we did have a good conversation and he was very happy to see us. I'll be going back some day next week.
After our visit I brought my sister home and stopped by my friend Kathleen's house. She lives on a lake shore and she was on her porch spinning. She noticed a very large loon in the cove and I had my camera with me so took a few pictures. I'm not that pleased with the results, maybe I need to consider getting a larger telescope lens! I'll post a couple of photos anyway.
A busy time coming up with graduations and parties. Have a good week!

Spring Means Ball Games!
Baseball and Softball season is upon us! I really enjoy watching my grandkids play ball. I get a chance to sit outside and hear folks yell encouragement (me? i don't yell much). I usually take my trusty camera along and now my daughter-in-law has a beautiful new camera and we look like we're from Sports Illustrated..or something similar. A few other folks also stand along with us with their cameras and it's really a funny sight. I must remember and take a photo of everyone.
I have any idea for another small art quilt in the works.....hint: it may have fish!
Enjoy the weather and until later.....keep on keep'n on!

April A Very Busy Month
My family celebrates many birthdays in April, including mine. Then we also have Easter so there's lots of getting together. My children treated me to a wonderful Easter Brunch at a lovely hotel on Lake Winnipesaukee here in NH. I got to stay overnight in one of the beautiful rooms and my daughter and grandkids enjoyed a swim in the indoor/outdoor pool.
I've been making more small art quilts and really must get back to completing the queen size Log Cabin Scrap Quilt I started some time ago. I have a Handi Quilter but mine is the older version, not as expensive as the present models. I'm setting it up to quilt my brothers quilt...finally finished after too many years! He's a avid fisherman and has travelled to many places to fish. He fly fishes only and is a believer in catch and release. The quilt has pictures of him over the years enjoying his passion. Hoping to post photos of that quilt soon!!
Here are a couple of small Art Quilts that I've been working on. The quilt with the poppies was influenced by Laura and Linda Kemshell of Design Matters TV. I used my own fabrics that I had hand dyed and I'm very pleased with the outcome but it still needs a moon in the sky. The other quilt is made from some of the painted, dyed, screen printed and stamped fabric I played with several months ago. I had a few pieces left after making "Leaves I" so decided to try another.
