Photo and Note Card Promotion

I have been busy addressing post cards to send out to folks I know who don't generally use the Internet.  I'm hoping they'll take a look at my shops.  I have posted a framed photograph of A Garden Path so that it will give you an idea how beautiful these photographs appear framed.  At this time I do not offer framing for my photographs.  The note card frames beautifully in a 5x7 frame.  I'll be posting some of those soon.  Great day today and I'm heading back outside to enjoy the sunshine!  Have a wonderful weekend and don't forget to visit both my shops.  Artfire and Etsy.

Car Inspection Etc.

I brought my car to the car dealership this time because the middle break light was out and it wouldn't pass inspection without it.  Apparently this is a very difficult light to replace and even the dealership had a difficult time with it.  Since my wait was going to be over 2 hours, they asked if I'd like to take out one of their 2011 Sonatas.  Well YES!  I really like the looks of that car and it was fun getting a chance to drive one.  The drivers seat was raised quite a bit when I got in causing me to hit my head pretty hard on the door frame.  Ouch!  But I figured out how to adjust everything and then took it for a nice ride.  I'm not going to buy one.  I'd like to, but this isn't the year for me to be doing that.  I was impressed with the dealership and will return there for service.  They were all very polite and accomodating.  The bill wasn't bad either, reasonable.  I also got new number plates for the car.  No more vanity plates for me.  The state is charging $40. extra each year to keep the plates.  I've gone back to just numbers and that's fine with me.  They were a one time $3.00 charge.  I don't know how our government thinks they are going to make any money from this TAX.  I know many people who are giving up their vanity plates because of the added cost.

More sunshine is on the way!

Fun Dinner Out, Dillon's Birthday

Happy Birthday!

April 14th was my grandson, Dillon's 16th birthday.  I find that hard to believe!  We went out to dinner this weekend to celebrate.  It was such fun watching all of our dinners being prepared right in front of us.  And it was DELICIOUS!  Wonderful fresh shrimp and scallops was my choice with fresh vegetables and fried rice.  This is definately a place I will enjoy returning to.  The kids were so much fun to watch as the chef prepared the food and lit the onion volcano on fire.

I've been busy working on my Etsy site, adding more photographs and making cards to sell.  I've had some sales but they are not flying off the shelf.  I'm considering doing a craft show the end of this month in the area if there are still any openings.  I'll check on that Monday.

Today's My Birthday

Birthdays-When we were youngsters we were excited about having a birthday party, in our teens we were concerned about who liked us and who to invite and as we grow older it is about family and loved ones.  It's so nice to hear from my brothers and sister on my birthday with a "Happy Birthday" phone call.  We aren't in touch as often as we would like.  We are all growing older.  I'm the youngest of four and was sometimes called "the baby" of the family.  There are several years between us, in some cases almost 15 years.  I'm now a grandmother and enjoy birthday parties that my children have for their children.  This year we've already had two such birthdays, both for my granddaughters, Maegan and Kimberly.  One in January and one in April.  My grandson Dillon turns 16 this April 15th so his birthday celebration is next!  Tomorrow I am invited to my son's house for a cookout/birthday get together.  The best part of the day will be spending time with my children and grandchildren.  I'm a very fortunate Aries woman.

Sewing Quilt Blocks Today

My friend Donna came over to my house today to join me in a session of sewing.  Her quilt is coming along beautifully (shades of blue)!  I have 36 blocks completed and the directions said that is the amount is needed for a queen size quilt.  However, looking at it laid out, I think I'm going to make more, plus once the blocks are all sewn together I'll add a couple of borders.  So far I'm pleased and I've used up some of my fabric stash.  I see a few more scrap quilts coming in the future...still too big of a fabric stash.

Kim's Birthday & Working on My Etsy Shop

Today I've spent some time working on my Etsy shop site.  I'm hoping for increased sales this spring.  This winter wasn't very busy with orders.
I was happy to receive an e-mail that I've been featured in a Treasury called "Hollyhocks"!  My Facebook page has the link to that one.
I'm also listed in a Showcase under "Paper Goods" in the drop down box.  Check it out!

I'm off to get ready to go to granddaughter's 13th Birthday Celebration.  She's a wonderful, smart and beautiful girl and I'm very proud of her!  Now both my granddaughters are teenagers, OH NO where does the time go?

A Day of Sewing

Today I enjoyed some sewing with friend, Donna.  We've been having trouble with sewing machines lately and must get one of mine (Featherweight) to the repair shop soon.  Donna's machine decided to give us trouble with the bobbin casing....Anyway we did sew this morning for a little while.  She used my old GE clunker.  I'm almost finished my blocks for the queen size log cabin quilt I'm making.  Now to get it pieced together~!

Tonight I went to friend, Bonnie's house to meet with like minded women who sew, quilt, do beadwork, spin yarn, knit, etc., etc......I brought along my "work in progress" for the 12x12 Squared Challenge I'm participating in on line.  The word this time was POETIC and I chose to do a piece featuring Bob Dylan whose words I find very poetic. I printed some of the words to Tangled Up In Blue on to silk organza and machine appliqued it to some of my hand dyed fabric.  I made a likeness of Dylan with two other colors of fabric. More work and ideas in mind for this one so stay tuned.

Today I learned the next word is "Rebirth", a good one for springtime.
