Fun Monoprinting with Gelatin and Using TAP

We have had so much rain I think I'm growing moss everywhere.  The small veggies garden is planted and the flower gardens are looking good.  The hollyhocks look like they will be outstanding this year.
The Farmer's Market sales have been slow, but they should pick up in in July with the tourists coming to the lake.
This week I finally got the opportunity to "play with fabric" again.  Friend Kathleen came over and I showed her how to mono print on gelatin plates.  I did some screen printing with paint and some mono printing.  I tried my hand at using TAP transfer paper and I love it.  The fabric under the
transfer shows through, love that!  I've designed another wall hanging using the fabric I worked on.  It's in the planning stages but almost there.

Here are some samples of the fun we had printing. The first three are mine, second three are Kathleen's.  Last two are mine, last photo is of my finished fabric on my design wall.

I'm on the mend from my surgery.  Outpatient PT now twice a week.  I plan on going back to work next week.  I didn't get any hand sewing done during recovery.  I napped a lot and iced the knee.  The medications made me sleepy.  I'm starting to walk without my cane and feeling much more like myself.

I had a wonderful Mother's Day with all three of my children and daughter-in-law and grand kids visiting.  Daughter Karen made a large seafood casserole with shrimp, scallops and lobster, buttered cracker crumbs!  Delicious.  We visited a local nursery and I got a beautiful large blue/purple iris for my garden along with a few other plants.  It was really my first "outing" since my surgery.  The black flies were fierce!!!  My son and his wife and kids sent me a beautiful arrangement from Edible Arrangements.  Chocolate covered strawberries, melon, grapes, pineapple.  We all enjoyed it!  A cold spell is upon us right now but the weatherman says it ends on Thursday.  Sure hope so, love the warm, sunny spring weather.

I not sure who created this or who to give credit too, but I just love this applique quilt block!

March & April

March flew by, now it's April.  Tomorrow I go in to have my knee replacement surgery.  I'll be glad when it's over and I'm on the road to recovery.  We celebrate several family birthdays in April, mine included.  My birthday is the 10th so I guess I know what I'm getting for my birthday : )

I'll be laid up for a bit and I plan on doing some hand sewing and watching the Kemshell's on my Kindle.  Linda and Laura are amazing quilters and artists, such fun to see what they are up to on their blog.

Signing off for now.

Happy Spring!!!!
