End of Another Week

Well, it's the end of another week and of course we had to have rain today. I didn't get much done unfortunately but enjoyed reading more about fabric dyeing and screen printing. I need to get in the zone and get some pieces done.
Tomorrow is Quilt Documentation at the high school in Wolfeboro. I'll be there most of the day and hoping to see some nice quilts. If they allow, I'll take a couple of pictures and post them here. A quilt show is sponsoring this documentation so some shopping might be in order too.

Yard Sale

I went to Pam Weeks yard sale yesterday. She and Lori Chase had several nice antique quilts, antique fabric and scraps for repairing antique quilts. I loved looking though everything and I did buy a nice quilt from Lori. It's a tumbler with many different fabrics and it's dated 1887.

Shoulder Bag

In my surfing I found a wonderful Blog called Tiny Happy with instructions on making a shoulder bag. I like her instructions and I plan on making a couple of these with some interesting/wild fabrics. If you like to sew, give it a try. I added the link to the Tiny Happy Blog on "Links I Like". She has a lot of good ideas and I enjoy reading her Blog, give it looksee. She lives in Norway but is from New Zealand. If you make one of the bags, I'd like to post a picture on my site with your permission. I know I want to make at least one!

More Rain?

I guess this is going to be the summer that never was. Too bad really because we put up with so much dark and cold weather through the year, we look forward to the sunshine. Sun worshiping may make a big comeback in NH! I did enjoy one day at the ocean (my photo in heading) and hopefully there will be others in August. I've been busy with my 3 part time jobs and haven't had time for any art this week. I hope to have more to post next week.

Have a good weekend, sunshine or not. I'm planning to go to a yard sale in Madbury on Saturday morning. A friend of mine is selling many of her antique quilts, some of her stash of antique fabrics and other goodies. Not that I need another thing in my sewing room, but I can't turn down the chance to at least go take a look and of course feel the fabric!

The Next Generation

This is my granddaughter Maegan who visited me last week. She has made several pillows but this is her first rag doll! Love it!

Quilt Documentation and Quilt Show

I will be at the Ladies of the Lake Quilt Show on August 1, 2009 as member of the NH Quilt Documentation Project, Phase II. We will be there to document some antique quilts for people who have scheduled appointments ahead of time. Space and time is limited so we must go by a schedule. I look forward to seeing the many beautiful quilts at the show and at the documentation area.

Fun Website to Check Out

I have visited a fun website called Two Creative Studios. They have on line classes as well as free patterns and lots of good hints. If you are interested in fiber arts, this is a good place to visit. They are currently having a fun summer give away that includes some hand dyed fabric. Take a look, you won't be disappointed. http://twocreativestudios.com

Mixed Media Art and Collage

Hello everyone. I hope you all have a chance to get out into the beautiful sunshine today . I've joined an art group on Artella. We are making art related to "Time". I just received my wonderful packet of goodies from Marney. I've attached a picture of my collage I call "My Time Muse". More work on the way.

Wow, another sunny day. Maybe four in a row, that's unheard so far this summer.
I've been playing around with this blog and trying to figure out how to edit my page. It may take some time to get my site to look like I want but I'll keep trying.

Today I'll be doing some fabric painting and maybe dyeing. With the sun shining I want to get outside. I want to try to hang some pfd fabric on the line and spray it with dye or paint and have it run down the cloth. I saw it in a magazine recently and it sounded interesting. I'll let you know how it goes.

I have been having fun this summer making some art with fabric I hand dyed this year. My grandkids came over recently and I showed them how to paint fabric. We had a great time. I thought it would be a little easier than getting all the dyeing materials out and I was right. I've started experimenting with deconstructed screen printing and I'm pretty happy with the results. I'll post some results at a later date.

I like reading the blogs of other quilt artists and decided it might be time that I try my own blog. We'll have to see how this goes.
